Abstract BS EN 61000-4-12:1996 is a European standard that provides guidance on testing and measurement techniques for voltage dips, short interruptions, and voltage variations on AC power supply systems. The standard specifies the requirements for test equipment, test setup, test procedures, and measurement techniques that should be used to determine the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment to these disturbances. The standard outlines several test methods for evaluating the immunity of equipment to voltage dips, short interruptions, and voltage variations. These methods include: Voltage dip and short interruption test Voltage variation test The standard also specifies the test levels that should be used for each of these test methods. The test levels are specified in terms of the magnitude and duration of the voltage variations and are designed to simulate typical power supply disturbances that can occur in industrial, commercial, and residential environments. BS EN 61000-4-12:1996 is intended for use by manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment to ensure that their products meet the required levels of immunity to voltage dips, short interruptions, and voltage variations. The standard is also used by regulatory bodies to assess the compliance of equipment with the relevant electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) directives and regulations.
