Pemetaan kawasan yang berpotensi kepada bencana alam dapat menyediakan maklumat berguna untuk mengelakkan kemusnahan akibat bencana, dan boleh menyediakan garis panduan untuk perancangan masa hadapan. Perisian ArcGIS ialah alat analysis ruangan yang sesuai kerana keupayaan untuk memperoleh,menyimpan, mengurus,mengolah dan menganalis, storan,manipulasi,paparan dan menganalisis kebanyakan data rujukan spatial dengan cepat dan berkesan. Sistem Maklumat Geografi (ArcGIS) mengesyorkan kaedah yang sangat baik untuk menganalisistanah runtuh kerana ia berkebolehan memfokus, menyimpan,memanipulasi,analisis dan membuat keputusan dalam jumlah data yang besar dengan cepat dan berkesan. Kawasan kajian hanya di Teluk Bahang yang terletak di tenggara bahagian tengah Pulau Pinang di bawah pentadbiran kawasan Daerah Timur Laut. Kerja analisis asas GIS seperti geo-pemprosesan telah dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan perisian ArcGIS. Parameter yang diperlukan untuk kawasan bencana alam iaitu penggunaan tanah,kecerunan ketinggian dan cerun akan disediakan ke dalam lapisan-lapisan GIS. Maklumat attribut lain yang diperlukan untuk pemetaan seperti ciri-ciri tanah, maklumat geologi dan jarak jalan daerah Teluk Bahang akan digabungkan. Semua kerja analitikal GIS akan dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan Perisian ArcMap 10.2.2.Peta akhir kerentanan tanah runtuh dirumuskan dengan menggunakan formula matematik gabungan lapisan. Keputusan yang dihasilkan terbahagi kepada 5 kategori iaitu risiko sangat tinggi, risiko tinggi, sederhana, risiko rendah dan risiko sangat rendah. Dari proses pengekstrakan statistik pada peta akhir, model tanah runtuh diramalkan kira-kira 19% risiko sangat tinggi, 13% risiko tinggi, 11% sederhana, 6% risiko rendah dan 3% risiko sangat rendah. Penggunaan GIS mengurangkan masa dan kos serta kerja analisis menjadi mudah dan cepat terutama sekali dalam menentukan kedudukan khusus tanah itu sesuai untuk tujuan pembangunan khusus. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mapping of Potential Disaster Prone Area provide useful information for disaster loss prevention and creating guidelines for sustainable planning Future. ArcGIS software is an appropriate spatial analysis tool because it has functions for collection, storage, manipulation, display, and analysis of large amounts of spatially referenced data which can be handled fast and effectively. Geographical Information System (ArcGIS) offers excellent method for landslide analysis because it allows one to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, and display large amounts of data quickly and effectively. The study area covers only Teluk Bahang which is located in north western Penang Island under the administrative district of Daerah Timur Laut. Basic GIS analytical work such as geo-processing was performed using the ArcGIS software. Pertaining to disaster parameters namely, land use, elevation and slope gradient was prepared as GIS layers. Other attribute information required for mapping such as soil properties, geological information and distance to road of Teluk Bahang was also compiled. The GIS spatial analytical work was performed using current ArcMap 10.2.2. The final landslide susceptibility map was mathematically formulated using raster calculator in GIS. The result was divided into five categories namely very high risk, high risk, moderate, low risk and very low risk. From statistical extraction process on the landslide susceptibility map, the landslide model predicts about 19% very high risk, 13% high risk, 11% moderate, 6% low risk and 3% very low risk respectively. The application of the GIS can reduce time and cost and the analytical work becomes easy and quick especially in determining specific position of the land suitable for specific development purposes.
