Development of one sensor for the measurement of flow and depth_Abdul Manaf Janodi_E3_2011_NI
___________________________________________________________________________________ In this new era, many designs of the sensors have been developed. These sensors are designed according to the current requirements. As we know, every sensor has its own function and different physical characteristics to help us to measure, study, and detect something which cannot be done by human sense alone. Most of the sensor today cannot sense the changes of water flow rate and level at the bottom of the water, simultaneously. But to manufacture and develop these sensors it is very expensive and dificult to install. In this project, a sensor has been developed for the measurement of water flow and depth at a very low cost. Using fluid mechanic concepts, an idea has been design to measure the changes of water depth and flowrate at the bottom of the water in a high volume of water. The pressure experienced by the sensor will be transmitted to the diaphragm and then to the light detector circuit through the fiber optic cable. The results from the experiment have been analyed to verified its effectiveness to the changes in flowrate and water level. The objectives of this project, using the combination of fluid mechanics and optical/electronic concepts have been achieved successfully.
