This Part of BS G 198 specifies the design, performance, quality assurance requirements and methods of test for the following type of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) slip-on sleeves suitable for identification of electric cables and insulated equipment wires in aircraft. The design of the sleeves is such that they do not expand in diameter.
Type 7. These are sleeves which, when fitted, are for use in the following temperature ranges:
a) −65 °C to 250 °C for at least 20 000 h²);
b) up to 300 °C for at least 168 h³);
c) up to 350 °C for at least 4 h⁴).
These sleeves are resistant to fuels, lubricants and hydraulic fluids, including ester-based lubricants and ester-based hydraulic fluids.
NOTE. The latest revision of an Aerospace Series standard is indicated by a prefix number.
Recommendations for the storage of finished sleeves are given in annex A.
