This British Standard specifies the additional safety and performance requirements for gas-fired hot water boilers having a heat input between 60 kW and 2 MW that are equipped with forced or induced draught burners. It supplements the general provisions of BS 5978-1, addressing aspects specific to boilers where combustion air is supplied or products of combustion are extracted mechanically. The standard covers: Design and construction requirements for boilers with forced or induced draught systems. Safety controls related to air supply, combustion, and flue gas evacuation. Performance criteria, including combustion efficiency and operational stability. Testing and inspection methods to verify compliance with safety and performance requirements.
