BS 4504‑3.3:1989 applies to copper‑alloy and composite circular flanges (including clad or backed steel variants) for pipes, valves, and fittings designated by nominal pressures PN 6 to PN 40 and nominal diameters up to DN 1800. Notes and Exclusions: Design features like tube stops for code 314 flanges are explicitly excluded from the scope. Pressure testing and routine inspection are outside the core specification scope, though some guidance is offered in Appendix B. Ordering guidance, including purchaser-supplied information, is provided in Appendix A.
