This British Standard provides recommendations for the design and implementation of a Message Authenticator Algorithm (MAA) to be used in banking and financial communications for message authentication purposes. The goal of the standard is to help ensure the integrity and authenticity of electronic messages exchanged between financial institutions, such as banks, clearing houses, and payment processors.
