Abstract BS EN ISO/IEC 7811-2:1996 is a standard that specifies the requirements for embossing of identification cards in accordance with the ISO/IEC 7811 series of standards. This series of standards deals with various aspects of identification cards, including physical characteristics, magnetic stripe data content, and the location of embossed characters on the cards. Specifically, BS EN ISO/IEC 7811-2:1996 focuses on the embossing of characters on identification cards, which is a common method of personalizing and encoding data on the card. The embossed characters are raised on the surface of the card and can be visually read or read by devices designed for that purpose.
