BS EN 60068-2-63:1995 is a European standard that specifies the requirements for testing equipment and components under severe thermal conditions. The standard is titled "Environmental testing - Part 2-63: Tests - Test method L: Solderability testing of electronic components and printed boards." The purpose of this standard is to ensure that electronic components and printed circuit boards are able to withstand the thermal stress of soldering without damage or degradation. The standard specifies a test method that involves immersing the components or boards in a molten solder bath for a specified time and temperature, and then inspecting them for any signs of damage or degradation. This standard is important for ensuring the reliability and performance of electronic components and printed circuit boards, particularly in applications where they will be subjected to soldering processes during manufacturing or assembly. It is used by manufacturers, testing laboratories, and other organizations involved in the development and production of electronic components and printed circuit boards. The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this International Standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this International Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards listed below. Members of IEC and ISO maintain registers of currently valid International Standards. IEC 68-1: 1988, Environmental testing - Part 1: General and guidance. IEC 817: 1984, Spring-operated impact-test apparatus and its calibration. ISO 2039/2: 1987, Plastics - Determination of hardness - Part 2: Rockwell hardness. ISO 2041: 1990, Vibration and shock - Vocabulary.
