BS EN 60034-12:1996 is a European Standard titled "Rotating electrical machines - Part 12: Starting performance of single-speed three-phase cage induction motors with or without rotor resistance". This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the starting performance of single-speed three-phase cage induction motors with or without rotor resistance.
The standard covers various aspects related to the starting performance of the induction motors, such as the determination of the starting time, starting torque, and starting current. It also provides guidelines for the measurement of these parameters and the calculation of the starting performance characteristics.
BS EN 60034-12:1996 applies to induction motors with a rated voltage up to 1,000 V and a rated frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The standard is intended for use by manufacturers, testing laboratories, and users of induction motors.
It is worth noting that this standard has been superseded by newer versions, including BS EN 60034-12:2018, which includes updates and revisions to the previous edition.
