BS EN 60626-2:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the requirements and tests for empty enclosures for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. The standard is titled "Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies - Part 2: Empty enclosures for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies" and was published by the British Standards Institution (BSI) in 1996.
The standard specifies the requirements for empty enclosures made of metal or non-metallic materials that are intended to house low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. The standard covers aspects such as enclosure construction, dimensions, ventilation, protection against ingress of solid objects and water, marking and identification, and more.
BS EN 60626-2:1996 is part of a series of standards that cover low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. These standards are designed to ensure the safety and performance of electrical installations and equipment, and to facilitate the exchange of equipment between different manufacturers and users.
