Sistem perparitan di kawasan pembangunan amat penting untuk mengalirkan air dari kawasan tadahan terus ke sungai untuk mengelak banjir dari berlaku. Pembangunan secara mendadak boleh menimbulkan masalah dalam pengurusan air larian ribut dan ini akan mengakibatkan masalah banjir kilat di kawasan bandar. Satu sistem telah diperkenalkan untuk mengatasi masalah ini, dengan menggunakan konsep “kawalan di sumber” atau “Amalan Pengurusan Terbaik”, air larian dari kawasan tadahan disimpan dahulu sebelum dilepaskan ke dalam sungai. Satu manual baru telah diperkenalkan untuk mengurus sistem pengairan dengan lebih baik dan ia dikenali sebagai “Storm Water Management Manual” (MSMA). Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) digunakan untuk menganalisis merancang, mereka bentuk sistem perparitan air rebut di kawasan bandar dan luar bandar. System ini penting dalam mereka bentuk dan menetukan saiz parit untuk mengurangkan banjir kilat,ia juga boleh menentukan saiz untuk kolam tadahan (detention) fasiliti untuk megawal banjir dan melindungi kualiti air. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Drainage system in development area is very important to transport the water from subcathment area into river to avoid flooding from happenning. The continous development will cause problem in managing storm water and can cause flooding in urban area. The system was introducing to prevent the flooding from happenning by using the concept of “control at source” or “Best Management Pratices (BMPs)” the stormwater will beretained in subcatchment area before slowly release it into watet body. Therefore, a new manual kown as “Stormwater Management Manual” (MSMA) were introduced to manage the drainage system to be more effiecient. Stormwater Management Model (SWMM) were used for analysis, planning, modelling stormwater and drainage system in urban area. This system is very important in modelling and to determine size of drain to reduce the flooding and it also can model and determine the detention facilities to reduce the flooding and improve quality of storm water.
