Land usecover analysis for river bank filtiration stability using high resolution remote sensing images (site selection) / Noorasmidar Noorddin
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ As Malaysia develops into the development Country, the human population also increased. These will also indirectly increasing in water demand. Therefore the new alternatives to taking raw water must be found out. The new alternative is a Riverbank Filtration (RBF). Even though, this technology already had been used in other country, now is our turn to use it. This site suitability for riverbank filtration location must be identifying which are, it must be near to the river bank, and then it must near to the water intake for easily to transfer the water to the community and the accessibility to the riverbank filtration. Therefore, the best location was at Dengkil, Selangor and Kuala Kangsar, Perak. This location can be identifying by using the remote sensing satellite images. The satellite images that are use are a high resolution of image which is a GEO-EYE. The method of this remote sensing is by using the unsupervised classification and supervised classification. For Dengkil are the unsupervised classification accuracy was 71% and the supervised classification was increasingly into 81%. For site study at Kuala Kangsar the unsupervised classification is about 73% and the supervised classification is about 86%. Both of this study area was majority cover with the vegetation. The most accurate map will come from the supervised classification. When the process of the analysis is finish, it can produce the new map for the riverbank filtration location.
