Proses pembinaan di Malaysia terdiri daripada 3 peringkat iaitu peringkat perancangan, pembinaan dan selepas pembinaan. Biasanya, jurutera awam mula terlibat dalam projek pembangunan di peringkat perancangan. Pada peringkat perancangan, jurutera awam mempunyai peranan untuk memastikan kerja-kerja reka bentuk mematuhi garis panduan yang telah ditetapkan. Selepas itu, jurutera awam juga berperanan untuk menyediakan lukisan pembinaan. Jurutera awam juga perlu mempunyai pengetahuan mengenai prosedur dan spesifikasi bagi pengemukaan kepada pihak berkuasa tempatan. Selain itu, nasihat pintar daripada jurutera awam adalah penting untuk membantu perancangan projek. Penilaian kos dan pengurusan bajet juga boleh dilakukan oleh seorang jurutera awam. Pengetahuan mengenai undang-undang dan peraturan perlu difahami oleh seorang jurutera awam untuk memastikan projek tersebut dijalankan mengikut undang-undang negara dan peraturan-peraturan pihak berkuasa. Bagi memastikan projek tersebut Berjaya, ia adalah penting untuk mempunyai aliran tunai yang baik untuk menyokong projek untuk keseluruhan hayat. Ia juga penting untuk mempunyai komunikasi yang baik supaya setiap maklumat boleh disampaikan secara berkesan untuk menjayakan projek tersebut. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Construction process of a development project in Malaysia consists of 3 stages which are the planning stage, construction stage and post-construction stage. Normally, civil engineers start to getting involved in a development project at the planning stage. During the planning stage, a civil engineer has the role to make sure the design works meet the specific guideline. After that, it is also the role of civil engineer to prepare the detailed drawings for construction. Civil engineers also need to have the knowledge on the procedure and specification of the submission to local authority. Besides that, advices by civil engineers are important to help the project planning. Cost evaluation and managing the budget also can be done by a civil engineer. Knowledge on laws and regulations must be understood by a civil engineer to ensure that the project is constructed within the laws of the country and regulations by the relevant authorities. For a development project to be successful, it is important to have a good cash flow to support the project for the entire construction period. It is also important to have a good communication so that information can be transmitted effectively to ensure a successful project.
