This Malaysian Standard deals with the safety of tools which the rated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase a.c. or d.c. tools and 440 V for three-phase a.c. tools. Supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of MS IEC 60745-1. The IEC 60745-2-14:2011 is a safety standard for hand-held motor-operated electric tools, specifically for planers. It sets out the particular requirements for the safe design, construction, and use of planers. This standard is based on the first revision of the IEC 60745-2-14 standard and is designed to protect users and others who may be exposed to the hazards associated with hand-held planers. The standard covers aspects such as mechanical and electrical safety, ergonomic requirements, and markings and instructions for safe use. This standard is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and is used worldwide as a reference for the safety requirements for planers.
