BS EN 10213-1:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the technical delivery conditions for steel castings for pressure purposes. This standard covers castings made from carbon and low-alloy steel grades, and is applicable to castings with a minimum wall thickness of 3 mm and a maximum weight of 10,000 kg.
The standard specifies requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, tolerances, surface conditions, testing and marking of the castings. It also includes annexes providing information on non-destructive testing, heat treatment and supplementary requirements.
BS EN 10213-1:1996 has been replaced by the European Standard EN 10213-1:2007, which is essentially identical, but with some minor editorial changes. The European Standard is part of a series of standards (EN 10213-1 to 5) that provide a comprehensive set of technical delivery conditions for steel castings for pressure purposes.
