BS EN 10249-1:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the technical delivery conditions for cold-formed sheet piling of non-alloy steels for construction purposes. Sheet piling is used to create retaining walls, cofferdams, and other earth retention structures.
The standard covers the dimensions, tolerances, and mechanical properties of sheet piles, as well as requirements for testing, marking, and documentation. It applies to sheet piles with a thickness of up to 16 mm and a width of up to 800 mm.
BS EN 10249-1:1996 is intended for use by manufacturers, purchasers, and users of sheet piles for construction projects. It is also relevant for third-party inspection and certification bodies.
It is worth noting that this standard has since been revised and replaced by EN 10249-1:2019, which includes updated requirements and testing methods for cold-formed sheet piling of non-alloy steels for construction purposes.
