Abstract BS EN 10246-7:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the non-destructive testing (NDT) method of eddy current testing for detecting surface and near-surface flaws in metallic materials. The standard applies to metallic products that are electrically conductive, including wrought and cast products, pipes, and tubes. Eddy current testing uses electromagnetic induction to detect flaws such as cracks, voids, and inclusions in the material being inspected. The standard provides guidelines for the selection of appropriate test equipment, test parameters, and acceptance criteria. BS EN 10246-7:1996 is intended for use by manufacturers, inspectors, and users of metallic products. It is also relevant for third-party inspection and certification bodies.
