BS EN 10221:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the technical delivery conditions for steel castings for pressure purposes. It applies to castings with a minimum wall thickness of 3 mm and a maximum weight of 10,000 kg.
The standard includes requirements for the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and microstructure of the steel castings, as well as testing methods and acceptance criteria. It also provides guidelines for marking, packaging, and documentation of the castings.
BS EN 10221:1996 is intended for use by manufacturers and purchasers of steel castings for pressure vessels, pipelines, and other pressure equipment. It is also relevant for third-party inspection and certification bodies.
It is worth noting that this standard has been superseded by EN 10221:2006, which has since been replaced by the more recent version, EN 10221:2017.
