Asfalt berliang adalah campuran daripada agregat, terutamanya agregat kasar, dan bahan pengikat. Kelebihan campuran ini adalah keupayaannya untuk mengalirkan air dan ini memjadikannya amat berguna. Namun begitu, terdapat satu gejala yang diberi nama rayapan pengikat yang boleh mengurangkan kebolehtelapan campuran. Penelitian ini difokuskan kepada kesan memperkenalkan jurang dalam penggredan agregat halus pada kehilangan ketelapan akibat rayapan pengikat atas asfalt berliang. Penggredan agregat yang digunakan adalah dibuat dengan merujuk pada gradasi cadangan Hasan (2011). Manakala jurang cadangan diperkenalkan di antara 5 mm dan 2.36 mm. Bahan pengikat konvensional dan ubah suai digunakan dalam persiapan campuran, masing-masing mempunyai dua isi bahan pengikat yang berbeza. Suhu penyesuaian campuran ditetapkan pada 20˚C and 30˚C. Ujian kebolehtelapan dan ujian tegangan tak langsung dijalankan ke atas sampel tersebut. Keputusan ujian menunjukkan bahawa campuran mengandungi jurang mempunyai kehilangan kebolehtelapan kurang daripada campuran tidak memperkenalkan jurang. Oleh itu, campuran mengandungi jurang dapat merintangi rayapan pengikat dengan lebih baik. Selain itu, rayapan pengikat dipengaruhi oleh suhu, jenis bahan pengikat dan isi bahan pengikat yang berbeza. Rayapan pengikat mencapai kadar yang tinggi apabila isi bahan pengikat konvensional yang digunakan dan suhu penyesuaian adalah tinggi. Disamping itu, tegangan tak langsung bagi campuran asfalt berliang tanpa penuaan adalah lebih tinggi daripada campuran yang melalui 60 hari penuaan. Tegangan tak lansung yang tinggi juga dapat dicapai dengan campuran terdiri daripada isi bahan pengikat ubah suai yang tinggi dan dikondisikan pada suhu rendah. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Porous asphalt comprises predominantly of coarse aggregates with low fines and is characterized by its high permeability. The permeability of porous asphalt gives it numerous advantages. However, a phenomenon, namely binder creep, has the tendency to reduce the permeability of porous asphalt. This study concentrates on the effects of introducing gap in the fine aggregate gradation on permeability loss due to binder creep of porous asphalt. The aggregate gradation proposed was made with reference to Hasan (2011) proposed gradation. The gap was introduced between 5 mm and 2.36 mm. Both conventional binder and modified binder were used in the specimens’ preparation. Each of them has two different binder contents. The conditioning temperatures for the mixes were set at 20˚C and 30˚C. Permeability and indirect tensile strength (ITS) tests were carried out on the mixes. The results indicate that mixes with gap exhibit lesser permeability loss than the mixes without gap. Hence, mixes with gap have high resistance to binder creep. In addition, different temperatures, binder types and binder contents do show significant effects on permeability loss. Binder creep is aggravated when porous mixes were prepared with high percentage of conventional binder and conditioned at elevated temperatures. For ITS test result, porous mixes not subjected to ageing possess higher ITS than the porous mixes that were aged for 60 days. Furthermore, ITS exhibits the highest value when porous mixes were prepared with high amount of modified binder and aged at low conditioning temperature.
