Kawasan tadahan Sungai Kayu Ara yang terletak di Damansara, Selangor, merupakan kawasan tadahan yang mengalami proses urbanisasi yang pesat. Masalah utama yang dikaitkan dengan kawasan urban ini termasuk peristiwa banjir yang berlaku di kawasan hilir sungai, akibat peningkatan aliran permukaan apabila kawasan tidak telap air meningkat. Kawasan Damansara tidak terkecuali daripada masalah banjir, oleh sebab itu, data hujan yang tepat adalah diperlukan untuk menjalankan proses simulasi banjir. Kepadatan tolok hujan adalah kriteria yang penting dalam menentukan tahap kejituan data hujan yang direkodkan, seperti yang diperlukan dalam melakukan simulasi aliran permukaan untuk tujuan permodelan. Kaedah yang digunakan untuk menentukan kesan kepadatan tolok hujan terhadap simulasi permodelan adalah dimulakan dengan analisis kepekaan, diikuti dengan penentukuran dan pengesahan aliran puncak dan kedalaman aliran menggunakan peristiwa hyetograph tunggal. Kemudian, kesan kepadatan tolok hujan akan dikaji terhadap aliran puncak untuk nilai cerapan dan dapatan. Dari keputusan yang diperolehi, kepadatan tolok hujan mempunyai impak yang besar terhadap simulasi aliran puncak, dan hyetograph peristiwa tunggal adalah sesuai untuk tujuan permodelan peristiwa aliran selepas penentukuran dan pengesahan. ___________________________________________________________________________________ The Sungai Kayu Ara catchment is a highly urbanized catchment, located at Damansara, Selangor. Raingauge density is an important criterion in determining the level of the accuracy of the precipitation data recorded, as required in running a runoff simulation for the purpose of modeling. The key problem attributed to the urban catchments includes the inundation of lower regions, especially downstream of rivers caused by the increase of imperviousness of the catchment, and the Damansara catchment is not excluded from this phenomenon, hence an accurate representation of the precipitation data is required for carrying out the simulation. The method used in determining the effects of the raingauge density on simulation modeling is first done by carrying out the sensitivity analysis, followed by calibration and validation of peak flow and flow depth using a single event hyetograph. Then, the effects of raingauge density are investigated on the peak flow for observed and calibrated value. From the results it can be determined that the raingauge density has significant impacts on the peak flow simulations, and the single composite hyetograph is suitable for modeling of a runoff event after calibration and validation.
