Effects of basic building configurations on evacuation behavior using DEM-Based crowd behavior simulator / Suhaimie Hamad
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Building evacuation is normally used in the study of human behavior and evacuation time during the mitigation of people. Smooth evacuation system can save human lives during the mitigation of people. Besides, with the aim to reduce the time evacuation system, the investigation of building configuration was observed. In one particular building, there are three basic evacuation configurations which are evacuation route, confluence and branch similar to the Pusat Pengajian Kejuruteraan Awam (PPKA) building. This dissertation presents the effects of basic building configuration on evacuation behavior Using DEM-Based Crowd Behavior Simulator for disaster Evacuation (CBS-DE). The results are expressed in term of 2D animation. With the purpose of study, the effect of building configuration to evacuation behavior, three cases and each has four different locations were observed. The three variables such as human behavior, evacuation time, and producing the 2D animation were observed. Three cases with difference amount of people (219, 345 and 366) were added on the ground floor of PPKA building. The amount of maximum people at ground floor should not exceed to 400 at certain times are recommended to get below that 300s of evacuation time. In conclusion, the result indicated that the Bilik Kuliah 1 (BK1) has the potential of the worst evacuation system since it being the most crowded location.
