Automatic circuit breaker (acb) for low voltage substation distribution system / Norazizah Norhafazid
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ An Automatic Circuit Breaker (ACB) is a device that interrupts fault currents in power supply networks, mainly through short circuits. Current interruption of the high current arc is formed by extinction upon contact separation. At fault current zero passage, an arc is initially interrupted. The transient recovery voltage (TRV) recovering contact gap is heavily stressed dielectrically from the network. By using current-limiting fuses (CLFs) method, the usage of the overcurrent can be easy limits the clearing time at rated voltage to an interval equal to or less than the first major or symmetrical current loop duration and also limits the peak current to a value less than the available peak current. Two types of breaker model used in the simulation design to compare the I-V graph. The protective relay used in the design to detect and evaluate the fault and determines when the circuit should be opened. The system is simulated in one condition by using two types of breaker model and effects are observed. The results show that the current will automatically cut the overcurrent. The breaker current and breaker voltage show that the result gives a good impact after this system has run which is increases from 30% to 60%. Analysis and the evaluation of the automatic circuit breaker shown that this system can be able to cut the overcurrent limit and has the potential to prevent the usage of electric energy due to fault occurs.
