Study on physical and mechanical properties of fired clay brick exposed to high temperature / Muhammad Fikry Radzali
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This study is a study of the effects for fired clay brick when exposed to high temperature and also to simulate fire tragedy occurs at a building. The study was conducted to identify the effect of fired clay bricks. The features identified in this study are divided into two, namely the impact on the physical brick clay and the effect on mechanical properties of clay in the event of fire. Temperature used in this study was as high as 12500C. Tests on clay bricks before and after the burn will be assessed to find out what happens in terms of physical and mechanical. The physical properties of fired clay bricks are such as colors, cracking and sizes of clay bricks, while the mechanical properties such as compressive strength, porosity, water absorption, water absorption percentage, density and so on. Compressive strength of fired clay bricks may be increased when it is burned at high temperatures because of the contraction in the surface area of clay bricks. But instead of the percentage rate of water absorption is reduced and this may cause the process to be difficult to extinguish fires. Therefore this research is to know the extent of the impact of the nature of the fired clay brick when it is burned at high temperatures which can cause a fire to spread from one to the other buildings. This study is important for the authority such as Fire and Rescue Department to find out the best way to extinguish a fire in the event of a fire tragedy.
