Abstract BS EN 60704-2-3:1995 is a European standard that specifies methods for measuring the performance of household electric washing machines, in terms of energy consumption, water consumption, cleaning performance, and other related characteristics. The standard sets out specific procedures and requirements for testing the energy efficiency, water consumption, cleaning performance, and other performance parameters of electric washing machines. BS EN 60704-2-3:1995 also includes guidelines for calculating the energy and water efficiency of electric washing machines, taking into account factors such as the washing time, water temperature, and the energy consumption of the appliance during use. The standard is intended to provide a common basis for measuring the performance of electric washing machines across Europe, ensuring that consumers can make informed choices about the energy and water efficiency and cleaning performance of the appliances they buy. It is worth noting that this standard has been revised and updated several times since its initial publication in 1995, with the latest version being BS EN 60456:2010. The newer versions of the standard include updated testing procedures and performance requirements for electric washing machines, reflecting advances in technology and changes in consumer expectations.
