Molecularly imprinted polymer layers using navicula sp. Frustules as core material for recognition of bovine serum albumin

Molecularly imprinted polymer layers using navicula sp. Frustules as core material for recognition of bovine serum albumin / Mohammad Zulkarnaen Yahaya
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Navicula sp. is an algae living under sea. The Navicula sp. has cultured to use to modified molecular imprinted particle for adsorption of Bovine Serum Albumin. The surface imprinting and adopting a nano-sized physical form are two effective approaches to overcome the template transfer difficulty within molecularly imprinted polymers and in particular advantageous to the imprinting of macromolecular structures like BSA. The modified frustules will imprint to become imprinted polymer. The imprinted polymer and non-imprinted polymer are tested to absorb BSA. The optimum imprinting factor of modified BSA are use to test the selectivity of adsorption with different type of protein, Lysozyme and Cytocrome Complex. The different concentration of BSA solution are use to get the optimum imprinting factor and optimum adsorption capacity. The rate of adsorption of BSA has tested to obtain the kinetic adsorption of BSA. The characterization of modified frustules has been characterized by using FTIR method and Zeta Potential method.
