Abstract This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of formaldehyde in a water extract prepared from paper and board intended to come into contact with foodstuffs. For contact at room temperature, the cold water extraction method (see EN 645) is applied. For paper and board materials intended for boiling and hot filtering purposes, the hot water extraction method (see EN 647)is applied.
