Sisa pembinaan adalah berbahaya jika tidak diuruskan dengan cara yang sepatutnya. Penghasilan sisa pembinaan berbeza sepanjang proses pembinaan dari pembersihan tapak sehingga pemasangan jubin dan kerja-kerja kemasan. Walau bagaimanapun, kekurangan data mengenai pengurusan sisa pembinaan dalam penghasilan sumber, jenis sisa yang dihasilkan, jumlah sisa yang diguna semula, dikitar semula dan dilupuskan merupakan masalah utama dalam tapak pembinaan. Jumlah atau kuantiti tepat atau kuantiti sisa yang dihasilkan di seluruh projek itu adalah sukar untuk dikenal pasti. Kesedaran tentang dokumentasi sisa pembinaan juga terhad walaupun mungkin mempunyai sistem pengurusan sisa pembinaan yang baik. Oleh itu, salah satu objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti peratusan dan jenis sisa pembinaan yang dihasilkan, digunakan semula dan dikitar semula di satu kawasan pembinaan terpilih di Pulau Pinang. Selain itu, kajian ini juga bertujuan untuk menilai keberkesanan pelaksanaan rekod lembaran sisa pembinaan di projek pembinaan. Kaedah yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah secara pengukuran langsung melalui lawatan tapak dan temuduga. Berat sisa diukur dengan menggunakan penimbang atau melalui pendaraban isi padu dan ketumpatan sisa. Dari kuantifikasi sisa yang dilakukan, mortar adalah sisa yang paling banyak terhasil bersama sisa lain termasuk kayu, keluli, batu bata, jubin dan pembungkusan. Sejumlah 98.5% daripada sisa yang dihasilkan dilupuskan, 1.2% daripada sisa diguna semula dan hanya 0.3% daripada sisa dikitar semula semasa peringkat pembinaan mencapai 88%. Selain itu, berdasarkan rekod data sisa untuk pelan pengurusan sisa pembinaan, pengunaan borang data sisa dari Netregs adalah paling mudah dan mesra di tapak pembinaan berbanding dengan borang data sisa dari Kota La Mesa dan Santa Monica. Hasil kajian ini juga menunjuk kepentingan dokumentasi sisa pembinaan dalam meningkatkan kemampanan pengurusan sisa pembinaan. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Construction waste is hazardous if it is not being managed in a proper manner. Construction waste generation varies throughout the construction process from the site clearance until the tiling and finishing works. However, lack of data on the current construction waste management regarding the waste generated, waste reused, recycled and disposal is the main problem at construction site. The exact amount or quantity of waste being generated throughout the project is difficult to identify. Besides that, awareness on the documentation of construction waste is also lacking although it may offer a better construction waste management. Hence, one of the objectives of this study is to identify the percentages and types of construction waste generated, reused and recycled at a chosen construction site in Penang. Besides, this study also aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing a construction waste record sheet at construction project. The methods used in this study are direct measurement through site visit, waste data record sheets and interview. Direct measurement through site visit is the method which the weight of the waste was measured on a weigh balance or through the multiplication of volume and density. From the waste quantification, mortar was the most generated waste among other waste included woods, steel reinforcement, bricks, tiles and packaging. 98.5% of the waste generated was disposed, 1.2% of waste was reused and only 0.3% of the waste was being recycled at the construction stage of 88% of completion. On the other hand, based on the waste data record for the construction waste management plan, the waste data sheets from Netregs was the easiest and user friendly to be implemented in the construction sites compared to the waste data sheets from City of La Mesa and Santa Monica. The result of this study acted as an indicator of the importance of documentation of construction waste in improving the sustainability of construction waste management.
