This report exhibits on how to develop a precise and accurate active bridge for the measurement of small capacitance of sensors. First of all, the proposed active bridge‟s limitations, assumptions, and conditions are determined. When relationships among variables are obtained, then they can be used to get the actual results after fabricating the circuit and running tests on it. So there would be a guide on what is expected at the output. Fabricating the hardware is the hard part because a lot of external instruments were used, hence slight modifications need to be made to the active bridge circuit. Usually shielding in the circuit is used to reduce noise at the displayed output. The main aim of this project is to determine the error percentage of the capacitance readings and discussing the possible causes that may have caused the errors. All measurements have been made at 1 kHz when bridge is fully shielded. Effect of stray capacitances is reduced to minimum level by using proper shielding strategy.
