Tesis ini mengkaji pengaruh kelajuan penggerudian dan kadar suapan terhadap kualiti lubang yang ditebuk dan jangka hayat mata gerudi. 100 lubang bersaiz 5 mm ditebuk pada kepingan komposit yang baru dengan menggunakan mata gerudi yang baru. Dinamometer digunakan sebagai peranti untuk mengukur daya tujahan dan momen yang dihasilkan daripada mata alat ketika proses menebuk lubang. Setelah proses menebuk lubang selesai, kehausan pada bahagian pemotong mata gerudi dan kualiti lubang dianalisa dengan menggunakan Alicona Infinite Focus. Kadar kehausan alat bergantung pada kelajuan penggerudian dan juga kadar suapan. Kualiti bagi lubang pertama, ke-50 dan ke-100 di analisa dan di bandingkan dari segi faktor kecacatan dan jenis kecacatan diperhatikan. Bagi kadar kelajuan penggerudian yang sekata pada 3600 rpm, daya tujah adalah 86.65N dan momen adalah 15.26 Nm pada kadar suapan 150 m/min berbanding daya tujah sebanyak 122 N dan momen sebanyak 2.74 Nm pada kadar suapan 300 m/min. Analisa kehausan mata gerudi selepas menebuk 100 lubang diperhatikan pada permukaan rusuk bucu pemotong. Kehausan di ukur menggunakan perbezaan ketinggian puncak di mana peratusan pengurangan puncak bagi kadar suapan 150 m/min adalah tinggi sebanyak 45% berbanding peratusan pengurangan puncak bagi kadar suapan 300 m/min sebanyak 27%. ___________________________________________________________________________________ This paper presented an analysis of the drill bit wear and hole quality of composite fiber-reinforced plastic drilling based on the cutting speed and feed rate. For each experiment, 100 holes of 5 mm in diameter were drilled on the new composite panel and new drill bit of carbide. The Kistler dynamometer was used as the device to measure the thrust force during the drilling process. The experiment conducted by comparing the maximum thrust force and torque for three different feed rate of 150, 225 and 300 m/min with drilling speed of 3000 to 3600 rpm in range. The used tool and the holes drilled were analyzed using Alicona Infinite Focus. The maximum thrust force and torque used to determine the tool life. Tool wear analysis was done by comparing depth difference and surface roughness on the cutting edge. Hole quality was done by comparing the delamination factor for each 1st, 50th and 100th hole while the defect type is being observed. For a constant drilling speed of 3600 rpm, the feed rate of 150 m/min produces a thrust of 86.65 N and torque of 15.26 Nm compared to 122 N of thrust force and torque of 2.74 Nm feed rate of 300 m/min.The wear analysis of the drill bit after 100 holes showed that the primary wears occur at the flank surface of the cutting edge. The wear is measured by the value of depth difference which showed that the percentage of reduction for 150 m/min feed rate is higher as 45% reduction compared to 300 m/min feed rate with 27% of reduction of depth.
