Mekanisme sayap biologi yang ada pada burung dan serangga adalah unik. Kajian telah menunjukkan bahawa mekanisme ini dapat beroperasi dengan kecekapan aerodinamik yang tinggi dan menggunakan kekuasaan yang kurang daripada sebarang pesawat sayap tetap buatan manusia yang pernah dicipta. Kenyataan terdahulu membuat kajian mengenai penerbangan sayap mengetuk menarik kerana ia masih belum difahami sepenuhnya. Makalah ini melaporkan ujian terowong angin pada sayap bersayap mekanikal yang mengalami flapping tulen dengan sendi siku. Objektifnya adalah untuk mengamati pengedaran tekanan yang tidak stabil di sekeliling bahagian silang sayap. Pengedaran tekanan memberikan wawasan ke atas pengalaman tingkah aliran dengan sayap. Kerja-kerja itu melibatkan reka bentuk, fabrikasi, pengetesan dan pengujian sayap yang mengepak di terowong angin berkelajuan rendah. Data yang diukur adalah kinematik dan pengedaran tekanan di sekitar bahagian silang sayap pada tiga frekuensi berkurang yang berbeza. Hasilnya mendedahkan dua fenomena aliran yang berbeza yang terjadi pada frekuensi berkurang ini. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The biological flapping wing mechanisms exist in birds and insects are unique. Studies have shown that these mechanisms are able to operate with high aerodynamic efficiency and consume less power than any other man-made fixed wing aircraft ever invented. Previous statement makes the study on flapping wing flight interesting since it is not fully understood yet. This paper reports on the wind tunnel test of a mechanical flapping wing undergoing pure flapping with elbow joint. The objective is to observe unsteady pressure distribution around flapping wing cross section. Pressure distribution provides insight into the flow behavior experience by the wing. The work involved designing, fabricating, instrumenting and testing of the wings flapping in the low speed wind tunnel. The data measured were the kinematics and pressure distribution around the wing cross section at three different reduced frequencies. The results reveal two distinct flow phenomena occurring at these reduced frequencies.
