Pada masa kini, permintaan terhadap kaca sebagai salah satu struktur binaan amat tinggi sejajar dengan pembangunan Negara. Namun begitu, tiang yang dihasilkan dari kaca jarang mendapat permintaan yang tinggi atas sebab faktor ketidakstabilan struktur bangunan tersebut. Walaupun tiang kaca boleh mewujudkan salah satu ciri visual yang menarik, akan tetapi kerapuhan kaca tersebut menyebabkan ketidakstabilan pada anggota struktur galas beban itu sendiri. Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan untuk menentukan sifat lengkokan tiang kaca yang menggunakan kaca ditempa dengan atau tanpa menggunakan penyambungan pada tiang kaca tersebut. Kajian ini juga melibatkan keadaan hujung yang berbeza pada tempat sokongan seperti pin-pin, pin-hujung terikat dan kedua dua hujung terikat. Satu ujian mampatan telah dijalankan untuk menentukan kegagalan mekanisme dan lengkokan tiang kaca dengan atau tanpa sambungan. Kamera resolusi tinggi dan empat ‘Linear Differential Transformer Transducer (LVDT)’ telah digunakan untuk menentukan serpihan kaca dan lengkokan tiang tersebut. Hasilnya, hubungan Antara daya dan anjakan telah diplotkan dan graf menunjukkan beban kegagalan maksima pada tiang kaca tanpa sambungan lebih tinggi daripada tiang kaca dengan sambungan. Pesongan tiang kaca juga terjadi di tengah-tengah specimen bagi kedua-dua jenis tiang kaca tersebut. Perbandingan antara kedua-dua jenis kaca dengan teori Euler telah dijalankan bagi menentukan perbezaan pesongan yang ketara. Perbezaan peratus bagi tiang kaca dengan dan tanpa penyambungan ialah 58.97% dan 19.94% bagi pin-pin untuk maksimum beban yang dikenakan dan anjakan sisi. Manakala 54.65% dan 1.97% bagi keadaan pin-ikat tegar dan 54.32% dan 0.77% bagi keadaan kedua dua hujung terikat untuk maksimum beban yang dikenakan dan anjakan sisi pada eksperimen tersebut. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Nowadays, demand of glass as a structural building is increasing with national development. However, demand of glass column as structural material still rarely uses in the country due to building stability factor. Even the glass column can creates an interesting visual feature but the brittleness of glass may take unsuitable load bearing structural member. The aim of this study was to determine buckling behaviour of glass column with and without bolted connection using toughened glass. This study provide different end conditions for glass column which are pinned-pinned condition, pinned-fixed condition and fixed-fixed condition. A series of compression test was carried out to determine the failure mechanism and buckling behaviour of glass column with and without bolted connection. A high camera resolution and four Linear Differential Transformer Transducer (LVDT) were used to determine the glass fragments and buckling deformation of glass column. As a result, a relationship between force and displacement were plotted and the graph shows maximum failure load at glass column without bolted connection is higher than glass column with bolted connection. The buckling deformation for both type of glass column occur at the middle length of specimens. Comparison between both types of glass column with Euler’s buckling were carried out in order to determine the significant differences among them. The percentage differences between glass column with and without bolted connection on pinned-pinned condition are 58.97% and 19.94% for maximum failure load and lateral displacement. Meanwhile at pinned-fixed condition the percentage difference are 54.65% and 1.92% for maximum failure load and lateral displacement. 54.32% and 0.77% for both fixed end condition that related to maximum failure load and lateral displacement.
