DESIGN OF A POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM FOR MODERN BUILDING PROPOSED CASE STUDY FOR A HOTEL_CHONG SHUK CHING_E3_2008_875002441_00003068488_NI
This project aims to propose the power distribution system for a modern building. Modern building has been chosen for this project because the increased popularity of electronic products and other non-linear loads. Non-linear loads will cause harmonics which affect the power quality of the system. So, the harmonics effect must be considered in this project. The modern building chosen for this project is hotel. The first stage of the project includes designing the load data for the hotel and distributes all loads designed to each phase line of the three phase power supply. This is followed by the calculation of system’s parameters such as total harmonic distortion, power factor, harmonic current, neutral current and power. This is to determine the effects of non-linear loads and power quality of the system. The calculated parameters will then be compared with the standard limits and correction procedure will be recommended. The second part of the project will focus on the basis power distribution system for the internal electrical services of the building. Calculation will be carried out to select the suitable size and type of electrical power installation equipment such as the cables, circuit breakers, distribution boards, current transformer and protection relay. Finally, the size of the emergency power supply will be estimated. All the design in this project must comply with the related standards. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Projek ini bertujuan untuk merekabentuk sistem pengagihan kuasa untuk bangunan moden. Bangunan moden dipilih untuk projek ini kerana peningkatan kepopularan peralatan elektronik dan beban-beban tak linear. Beban tak linear akan menghasilkan harmonik yang menjejaskan kualiti kuasa sistem. Oleh itu, kesan harmonik mesti diambil kira dalam rekabentuk bagi projek ini. Bangunan moden yang dipilih untuk projek ini adalah hotel. Bahagian pertama projek termasuk merekabentuk data beban yang terdapat dalam hotel dan mengagihkan beban-beban tersebut kepada setiap fasa daripada bekalan kuasa tiga fasa. Kemudian, parameter bagi sistem seperti jumlah herotan harmonik, faktor kuasa, arus harmonik, arus neutral dan kuasa akan dikira. Ini adalah untuk menentukan kesan-kesan beban tak linear dan kualiti kuasa sistem. Parameter-parameter yang dikira akan dibandingkan dengan had piawai dan langkah pembetulan akan diambilkira. Bahagian kedua projek memberi tumpuan kepada asas sistem pengagihan kuasa bagi perkhidmatan elektrik dalaman bangunan. Pengiraan akan dilakukan untuk menentukan saiz dan jenis peralatan bagi pemasangan sistem kuasa elektrik yang sesuai. Peralatan yang diambilkira dalam projek ini adalah seperti kabel, pemutus litar, papan suis, pemindah arus dan peranti perlindungan. Pada bahagian terakhir, saiz bagi sistem tunggu sedia akan dianggar. Semua rekabentuk dalam projek ini mesti mematuhi kepada piawai yang berkaitan.
