DESIGN OF A POWER SUPPLY-UNITY POWER_KHOR KAR WEI_E3_2008_875002788_NI
The main purpose of the project is design a power supply with unity power factor. This project is divided into 3 parts to implement and achieve the purpose. Single phase full-wave rectifier, DC converter with Topology Boost and the power factor correction are the three parts in the project. Rectifier circuit will be integrated in this project hence the project is measure the power factor from the AC voltage. Basically boost regulator used in this project because it is the heart of the power factor correction. Besides that, the capability of this topology circuit to step-up input voltage with high efficiency. Based on the concept of the all study, the power factor will slightly drop when connect to the power supply. To prevent the problem, the waveform of the current must be force to flow follow the waveform of voltage. The design and simulation for this project will be carried out using PSIM 4.5. The efficiency of the circuit obtained simulation is high while in practically the efficiency almost same as the simulation. In this project, the switching frequency of the power supply play important role to control the efficiency of the power supply. The result from this project can obtain the power factor from 0.77 increased to 0.84 for the 45W (15Vdc and 3A). The input voltage range just between 0-30Vdc_ kesempurnaan faktor kuasa. Projek ini dibahagikan kepada 3 bahagian untuk dilaksana dan mencapai objektif. penerus gelombang penuh dengan fasa tunggal, pemenggal boost dan pembetulan faktor kuasa ialah 3 bahagian bagi projek ini. Litar rectifier akan dipasang dalam projek ini oleh kerana faktor kuasa diukur daripada punca bekalan AC.bagi pemenggal boost , ia ialah bhagian yang penting bagi pembetulan factor kuasa. Selain daripada itu, topologi boost digunakan kerana topologi boost ini mampu untuk mieningkatkan voltan masukan dengan kecekapan yang tinggi dan sambungannya sangat ringkas. Merujuk kepada konsep, factor kuasa akan menjatuh apabila disambungkan kepada bekalan kuasa. Untuk mengelak masalah ini, gelombang arus dipaksa mengayun mengikut gelombang voltan. Rekabentuk dan simulasi litar bagi projek dibuat menggunakan perisian PSIM 4.5. Kecekapan litar yang diperolehi secara simulasi adalah tinggi manakala secara praktikal juga mendapat keputusan yang hampir sama. Dalam projek ini, frekuensi pensuisan memainkan peranan yang penting dalam mengawal kecekapan litar bekalan kuasa. Faktor kuasa dalam projek ini di ukurkan daripada 0.77 menaik kepada 0.84 dengan 45W (15Vdc dan 3A). Punca bekalan hanya dalam julat 0- 30Vdc sahaja.
