Suntikan gas kepada mandian reaktor telah digunakan secara meluas dalam pelbagai bidang kejuruteraan dalam proses untuk menggalakkan penyebatian atau reaksi kimia. Dalam proses pembuatan, halaju keluli lebur perlu di ukur untuk peningkatan proses- proses semasa dan juga bagi pembangunan proses-proses baru. Dalam penyelidikan ini, tingkah laku buih semasa menaik ke permukaan dikaji dalam turus air segi empat tepat menggunakan Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Tingkah laku buih yang dikaji dalam projek ini adalah halaju dan bentuk perjalanan semasa buih naik ke permukaan air dengan mengunakan satu kamera di tiga lokasi yang berbeza. Simulasi bagi tingkah laku buih turut dijalankan menggunakan perisian Gambit dan Fluent. Hasil daripada ekspriment, diketauhi halaju gelembung pada mulanya meningkat sehingga bahagian tengah kemudian berkurangan bila mendekati permukaan air. Hasil daripada pemerhatian didapati hasil bentuk perjalanan gelembung dalam mod liku-liku. Simulasi telah dijalankan untuk 5 saat; memberi hasil bentuk perjalanan gelembung dalam mod liku-liku. Kajian bagi gelembung boleh diaplikasikan untuk pembangunan pada masa depan dengan menggunakan medium cecair berbeza dengan ciri-ciri kepadatan berlainan. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Gas injection into the bath of reactors has been widely used in variety fields of engineering in order to promote mixing or chemical reactions. In manufacturing it is desired to measure the velocity of molten steel for the improvement of current processes as well as for the development of new processes. In this research, bubble rising behavior to the water surface is studied in rectangular water column using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Bubbles are being studied in velocity and rising pathline behavior in three different location camera views. Simulation of bubble rising behavior also carried out using Gambit and Fluent software replicate the experiment dimension. From the result obtain, bubble velocity initially increase until the middle part then reduce when approaching the water surface. Observation gives the result of pathline bubble rising in zigzag mode. Simulation was being carried out for 5 seconds; give zigzag for the pathline result. Study of bubble can be expended for future development in different liquid medium with different density properties.
