Impact resistance of natural fibre reinforced composites

Impact resistance of natural fibre reinforced composites / Mohd Hisyamuddin Harun
Adalah dibuktikan bahawa proses hibrid antara serat semula jadi dan kaca merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kekuatan komposit gentingan serat semula jadi _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The goal of this research is to explore the mechanical performance of natural fiber reinforced composite. Natural fibres which are coconut coir and oil palm fibre were used as reinforcement materials in an epoxy based composite. Several fabrication methods were used to identify the best method that suitable for composites fabrication in this research. A hydraulic compression was applied to the molds to ensure the finish composites were in desired dimension. The composites were tested for their impact resistance using the Izod testing method and ASTM D4812 standard. The impact resistance of the natural fibres composites were then compared with the E-glass epoxy composite and hybrid composite of nature fibre and E-glass. It was found that the E-glass composite is far superior to natural fibre composites. The hybridization of glass and natural fibres in a composite was proved to be an approach to enhance the mechanical properties of the natural fibre reinforced composites.
