Comparison of microstrip antennas in GHZ

Comparison of microstrip antennas in GHZ / Yusri Jamaludin
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This project introduces a comparison of the antennas in different type of geometry such as rectangular and circular patch antenna. Since most of the equipment had been transmitted wirelessly, this antenna is assign to resonate at 2.4 GHz frequency. The best antenna performance can be determined for wireless device since the comparison of both antennas had been done. All of the simulation carried out using CST 2014. Before the designing process, the important parameter of the antenna is taken for the consideration. The selection of dielectric material or substrate can affect the performance of the antenna. Both antenna designs are using Duroid3003 with dielectric constant of 3 and thickness of 1.52 mm. Calculation for the parameters had been conducted to determine the width and length of the rectangular patch antenna. For circular patch antenna the radius of the antenna had been considered. The inset feed gap and the transmission line width is fixed throughout this experiment. This antenna is feed by inset feed method since it is easy to apply. The main concern for this method is the length of feed line that is inset to the antenna. This position can affect the impedance matching of the antenna. The optimization had been carried out by adjusting the length of feed line. All the antennas design have been fully optimized through the simulation. Since the simulation and the measurement result are not in the range of expected value, the further discussions have been conducted to determine the factors that affect the deviation of the result.
