ISO/IEC 11404:1996 is a standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The full title of the standard is "Information technology - Programming languages, their environments and system software interfaces - Language-independent datatypes." This standard focuses on specifying a set of language-independent datatypes that can be used in the definition of programming languages and their interfaces with system software.
