Sejak kebelakangan ini, gegaran kuat yang terasa di Semenanjung Malaysia akibat kejadian gempa bumi dari Sumatra, Indonesia telah menarik perhatian kebanyakan orang. Oleh itu, kajian mengenai tempoh asas sesebuah bangunan konkrit bertetulang perlu dijalankan. Tempoh asas akan menentukan ricih tapak sesebuah bangunan di mana ia bertujuan mengelakkan gegaran bangunan daripada resonan. Bangunan yang akan diuji berdasarkan tingkat yang berbeza dan ketidakteraturan pelannya. Ketidakteraturan sesebuah bangunan akan menentukan nilai tempoh asasnya bergantung kepada arah daya sisi dominan bertentangan. Data tempoh asas diambil melalui alat ‘Microtremor’ di lokasi yang berlainan dalam sesebuah bangunan. Data akan dieksport dan dianalisa melalui Program MATLAB untuk menghasilkan spectrum H/V, di mana frekuensi asas sesebuah bangunan didapati di dalam graf itu. Selain itu, ketidaksamaan ketinggian sesebuah bangunan adalah untuk mengesahkan hubungan tempoh asas dengan ketinggian adalah berkadar langsung. Semakin tinggi bangunannya, semakin lama tempoh asas bangunan tersebut. Keputusan menunjukkan rumah pangsa Uda bertingkat lima belas, dengan tempoh asas 0.7-0.8s, adalah lebih tinggi berbanding dengan Desasiswa Utama yang bertingkat lapan, dengan tempoh asas 0.6-0.7s. Tambahan pula, keputusan ETABS akan dibandingkan dengan keputusan eksperimen di mana keputusan ETABS menunjukkan tempoh asas yang lebih tinggi, iaitu 1.18s, berbanding dengan keputusan eksperimen, iaitu 0.6-.0.7s. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Due to the increase in the number of tremors felt in Penisular Malaysia from Sumatra Island, a research on natural period of RC buildings in Malaysia investigation was carried out. The period of building provides a force-based design that can resist the building from vibrating to its resonance. The targeted buildings are varied by storeys and two building locations are identified. The selection of the building is based on their plan regularity as the choice. Irregular building plan plays a major role in affecting the natural period of the building depending on the dominant lateral resisting direction. The natural period data is taken by using the microtremor instrument at different location of the building. Data is extracted out and to be analyzed using MATLAB. By producing H/V spectrum, natural frequency of a building can be determined. The period of building goes longer when the selected building is higher. The result clearly shows that the fundamental period of Uda Flat, with a period of 0.7-0.8s, is higher than Desasiswa Utama, with a period of 0.6-0.7s. Moreover, software modeling using ETABS is used to compare with the field measurement results. It is found that the period of Desasiswa Utama using ETABS is 1.18s while field measurement gave a period of 0.6-0.7s.
