Teknologi imej sensor semikonduktor logam oksida pelengkap (CMOS) adalah amat berguna untuk sistem komunikasi serta sistem pengimejan. Alat-alat perhubungan yang menggunakan Frekuensi Radio (RF) adalah terhad dalam kawasan-kawasan berbahaya RF seperti hospital, pesawat dan ruang stesen. Ini adalah kerana alat-alat komunikasi tersebut boleh menyebabkan gangguan kepada peranti berasaskan RF. Projek penyelidikan ini membentangkan pelaksanaan 5 Megapiksel Kamera Pembangunan kit (TRDB_D5M kit) sebagai penerima untuk sistem Komunikasi Cahaya dengan menggunakan algoritma digital imej pemprosesan. Project ini mencapai kemajuan dalam enam peringkat, iaitu pemerolehan imej titik cahaya LED, pengesanan titik cahaya LED, pencarian kedudukan titik cahaya LED, menyahkod data, melaksana algoritma untuk pengesanan, pencarian kedudukan dan menyahkod data untuk enam titik cahaya LED serta pelaksanaan perkakasan. Penerima dalam projek ini menggunakan papan Altera DE2-115, kit TRDB_D5M dan Tatasusunan Grafik Video (VGA) monitor paparan. Penerima ini berfungsi seperti berikut: (1) pemerolehan imej titik cahaya LED; (2) melaksanakan warna pengambangan untuk mengekstrak titik cahaya LED dari imej yang ditangkap; (3) menentukan koordinat pusat piksel titik cahaya LED; (4) menyahkod nadi cahaya LED kepada data; (5) memaparkan imej titik cahaya LED pada skrin VGA monitor. Berdasarkan keputusan eksperimen, rangkaian jarak untuk Komunikasi Cahaya antara penerima imej sensor CMOS dan pemancar pelbagai LED adalah antara 25cm dan 65cm pada kadar bingkai 36.05fps. Kadar bingkai yang diperolehi melalui eksperimen untuk penyegerakkan antara penerima imej sensor CMOS dan pemancar pelbagai LED adalah 36.05fps. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Complementary Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor technologies are very useful for communication systems as well as imaging systems. Communication devices which used Radio Frequency (RF) are limited in RF hazardous areas such as hospitals, aircraft and space station. This is because these communication devices can cause interference to RF based devices. This research project proposes the implementation of 5 Megapixel Camera Development kit (TRDB_D5M kit) as a receiver for Visible Light Communication system by using digital image processing algorithm. The project is progressed in six stages, which are acquisition of LED light spot image, LED light spot detection, LED light spot positioning, data decoding, develop algorithm for six LEDs light spot detection, positioning and data decoding, and hardware implementation. The receiver in this project utilizes the Altera DE2-115 board, a TRDB_D5M kit and a Video Graphic Array (VGA) monitor display. The receiver works in the following way: (1) acquire LED light spot image; (2) perform colour thresholding to extract LED light spot from image captured; (3) determine the centre pixel coordinates of LED light spot; (4) decode the LED light pulse into data; (5) display LED light spot image on VGA monitor screen. Based on the experimental results, the range of distance for Visible Light Communication between CMOS image sensor receiver and LED array transmitter is between 25cm and 65cm. The frame rate for synchronization between CMOS image sensor receiver and LED array transmitter obtained through experiment is 36.05fps.
