Assessment of water quality a case study of wet pond and detention pond at engineering campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia / Zainulabidin Husain Mohamad
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This dissertation and research focus about the water quality class for wetpond and detention pond that is located at Engineering Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Nibong Tebal. Basic Water Quality Index (WQI) parameters such as ammoniacal nitrogen (AN), dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS) and pH are taken to determine the water quality class. Based on the result that has been obtained, it is found that the detention pond has better water quality than the wetpond as all the detention pond result has falls into class II with the value of water quality index of 76.12 to 83.33 compared to the wetpond that has a class III with the value of water quality index of 69.43 to 71.98 during the research. Additional data on wet season and test are recommended for future research in order to have better understanding of both ponds efficiency.
