Proses pirolisis haba dan proses pirolisis pemangkin pertanian yang menggunakan sisa-sisa pertanian sebagai bahan mentah telah dijalankan di reaktor tiub katil tetap pada suhu 550 ° C dengan kadar pemanasan 15 ° C / min. Pemangkin ZSM-5 telah digunakan sebagai pemangkin dalam proses pirolisis pemangkin. Sisa pertanian seperti hampas tebu, sekam kelapa, rotan, karanj dan kulit durian dipilih sebagai bahan mentah untuk kedua-dua proses pirolisis itu. Bahan-bahan mentah telah menjalani termo-gravimetrik analisis (TGA) untuk menentukan analisis proksimat pada komposisi bahan-bahan mentah yang digunakan. Jumlah char, bio-minyak dan gas yang dihasilkan telah diukur. Kualiti bio-minyak yang dihasilkan serta komposisi bio-minyak dan nilai kalori ditentukan oleh GS-MS dan bom kalorimeter. Menurut keputusan eksperimen ini, penambahan ZSM-5 dalam proses pirolisis akan mengurangkan hasil bio-minyak untuk semua jenis sisa pertanian kecuali sekam kelapa. Di samping itu, kehadiran ZSM-5 dalam proses pirolisis akan meningkatkan kualiti bio-minyak yang dihasilkan dari segi jumlah mono-aromatik dan jumlah sebatian oksigen terbentuk dalam proses. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The main objective of the work was to study the effect of catalyst ZSM-5 towards the pyrolysis process of agricultural residues such as sugarcane bagasse, coconut husk, rattan, karanj and durian shell. Thermal pyrolysis and catalytic pyrolysis process of the agricultural residues was been performed in a fixed bed tubular reactor at the temperature of 550 °C with the heating rate of 15 °C/min. ZSM-5 catalyst was used in the catalytic pyrolysis. Agricultural residues such as sugarcane bagasse, coconut husk, rattan, karanj and durian shell were chosen as the raw materials for both the pyrolysis process. The raw materials were undergoing thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) to determine the proximate analysis on the composition of the raw materials used. The amount of char, bio-oil and gas produced were measured. The quality of the bio-oil produced as well as the composition of the resulting bio-oils and the calorific value were determined by GS-MS and bomb calorimeter. According to results, the addition of ZSM-5 in the pyrolysis process had reduced the bio-oil yield for all types of agricultural residues except the coconut husk. Besides that, presence of ZSM-5 in the process had enhanced the quality of the bio-oil produced in term of the monoaromatics level and the amount of oxygenated compounds formed in the process.
