Kajian ini menerangkan analisa perlakuan yang dilakukan terhadap HomePlug Adaptor 85Mbps untuk mengetahui prestasi sebenar dan kesannya penggunaan. Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan kerana tidak semua perhubungan rangkaian melalui wayar elektrik, antara satu tempat dengan tempat yang lain adalah sama. Pelemahan dan ganguan isyarat antara suatu tempat juga berbeza. Realiti terhadap perbezaan ini memerlukan teknologi PLC ini dianalisa. Keputusan menunjukkan walaupun adapter ini diperakui mempunyai kadar masukan sebanyak 85Mbps, nilai masukan sebenar yang diterima hanyalah antara 30Mbps hingga 40Mbps. Kadar masukan ini bergantung sepenuhnya kepada kewujudan penggunaan alatan elektrik bermotor yang menyebabkan variasi kepada muatan yang diterima. PLC mempunyai sedikit masalah berdepan pada fasa yang berbeza dalam penghantaran elektrik di rumah. Kadar masukan yang diterima rendah sedikit berbanding analisa yang dilakukan pada fasa yang sama. Selain terkenal dalam aplikasi penggunaan elektrik dalam rumah persendirian, PLC juga sesuai dilaksanakan dalam penggunaan multimedia. Analisa perlakuan yang dijalankan ini juga untuk menyelidik kebolehan komukasi suara melalui adapter HomePlug 85Mbps. Melalui kajian ini, PLC terbukti keberkesanannya dalam komunikasi suara atau suara melalui protokol internet (VoIP) iaitu salah satu kaedah yang boleh diaplikasikan penggunaannya dalam ‘smart house’. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This paper presented a field test to measure the performance of HomePlug Adaptor 85 Mbps to reveal true performance and impairment-handling capability. The reason for this is that in real user setting of whole-house networking over AC wiring, not all pointto- point (outlet-to-outlet) connections are the same. The amount of signal attenuation and noise between outlets is not the same. The reality of this these differences requires that PLC technology must be tested. The result show that even though the connection speed of the adapter is claimed to be 85 Mbps, the real throughput is only around 30- 40Mbps. The throughput rate highly dependent on the existence of motorize-electrical appliances, which cause variations in the line loading. PLC is having a bit problem to deal with different phases of electrical distribution. The throughput rate will drop slightly compare to the in phase electrical distribution field test. Beside these wellknown as residential applications, PLC is also applicable for special applications which is in real time application. The field trial also investigate applicability of voice communication via HomePlug 85 Mbps adaptors. My research suggests that PLC is a strong candidate for voice communications or VoIP as a new techique for applying in smart house.
