Malaysia adalah negara Asia yang mengalami musim kemarau dan hujan sepanjang tahun. Ciri-ciri iklim Malaysia adalah suhu seragam, kelembapan tinggi dan kekerapan hujan yang tinggi. Air sangat penting bagi semua orang, tidak hanya di Malaysia tetapi di seluruh dunia. Jadi, meramal hujan dengan tepat sangat penting untuk memastikan bahawa semua aktiviti dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik dan untuk memastikan air cukup untuk semua keperluan manusia seharian. Faktor-faktor yang digunakan untuk meramal hujan adalah seperti kelembapan, tekanan udara, suhu dan kelajuan angin. Hubungan antara kadar curah hujan (pembolehubah bersandar) dan kelembapan, tekanan udara, suhu dan kelajuan angin (pembolehubah tidak bersandar) dianalisis dengan kaedah analisis diskriminan dengan menggunakan SPSS 18,0. Data yang digunakan ialah curah hujan, kelembapan, tekanan udara, suhu dan data kelajuan angin tahun 2007, 2008, 2009 dan 2010 yang direkodkan setiap minit dari Makmal Radio Frekuensi (RF) & Komunikasi Pusat Pengajian Elektrik dan Elektronik, Kampus Kejuruteraan, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) di Nibong Tebal, Pulau Pinang. Analisis diskriminan digunakan untuk meramal kadar curah hujan sepanjang empat tahun tersebut. Projek ini juga membincangkan pengedaran kumulatif keamatan minit hujan, setiap bulan yang mempunyai bacaan yang teruk, 6-jam pengedaran kumulatif dan juga ciri-ciri dinamik berlakunya hujan. Projek ini juga telah mencadangkan satu model ramalan hujan. Peratus kejayaan meramal hujan ini ialah sebanyak 88%. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Malaysia is an Asian country that experienced dry and rainy seasons throughout the year. Features climate of Malaysia are uniform temperature, high humidity and much rain. Water is very important for all people, not only in Malaysia but all over the world. So, predicting the rain with a very important precisely to ensure that all activities can be implemented smoothly and to ensure water for all human needs are sufficient. Factors such as humidity, air pressure, temperature and wind speed can be used to predict rain. Relationship between rainfall rate (dependent variable) to the humidity, air pressure, temperature and wind speed (independent variable) is analyzed by method of discriminant analysis by using SPSS 18.0 software. The rainfall, humidity, air pressure, temperature and wind speed data of year 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 which is recorded every minute from the Radio Frequency (RF) & Communication Laboratory of Electric and Electronic School, Engineering Campus, University Science Malaysia (USM) in Nibong Tebal, Penang is used. The rainfall data for the year 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 were recorded in every minutes of each day in the year. Discriminant analysis is used to predict the rainfall rate using the data for the four years. This project also investigate the cumulative distribution of average minutes rain intensities, average worst month, 6-hours cumulative distribution and also the dynamic characteristic of rain events. The project has proposed a model for predicting rain. It is found that the success rate is 88%.
