Dalam persekitaran elektrik masa kini, Penggunaan kuasa agak berbeza dan penggunaannya melebihi 10 kali ganda daripada sepuluh tahun yang lepas. Alat-alat elektrik yang digunakan hari ini adalah berteknologi tinggi dan dihasilkan dalam kuantiti yang banyak. Menurut kepada situasi arus harmonik dan voltan harmonik yang dihasilkan oleh beban bukan lelurus yang disambungkan kepada sistem pengagihan kuasa. Herotan harmonik akan membentuk pencemaran terhadap kawasan elektrik yang mana akan membawa masalah jika jumlah arus harmonik meningkat melebihi had ditetapkan. Bagi alat-alat elektrik yang moden seperti televisyen, komputer riba, alat pencetak, kipas angin, cas bateri, alat pembakar roti, dan lampu menghasilkan harmonik. Untuk memahami herotan harmonik dengan lebih mendalam, satu projek berkenaan dengannya telah dilakukan. Projek ini adalah mengenai kajian ciri-ciri herotan harmonik merujuk kepada jenis alat-alat elektrik. Parameter-parameter yang di ukur ialah voltan harmonik, arus harmonik, Jumlah herotan harmonik (THD), kuasa aktif(P), kuasa reaktif (Q), kuasa ketara(S), faktor kuasa (PF), dan faktor kuasa anjakan (DPF). Semua ukuran diambil dengan menggunakan Fluke 43B Power Quality Analyzer. Corak Spektrum harmonik, gelombang arus dan gelombang voltan dapat diperhatikan dengan menggunakan alat ini. Data-data yang diperoleh akan direkodkan menggunakan fluke view. Lampu dan kompenan elektronik berkelip, pemutus litar mengesan arus berlebihan, sistem komputer gagal berfungsi, dan bacaan pada meter mempunyai ralat merupakan contoh-contoh kesan jika terjadinya harmonik. Semua data-data yang diperoleh melalui harmonik akan dijadikan sebagai bahan rujukan untuk membetulkan harmonik dan meningkatkan kualiti kuasa pada masa akan datang. _________________________________________________________________________________________ In today’s electrical environment, power used quite differently and consumed 10 times more than a few decades ago. The electrical devices used today are “high technology” and more plentiful. Based on this situation harmonic currents and voltages was created by non-linear loads connected on the power distribution system. Harmonic distortion is a form of pollution in the electric plant that can cause problems if the sum of the harmonic currents increases above certain limits. In electric utilities, a lot of modern equipment such as television, laptop, printer, fan, battery charger, toaster and lamp can produce the harmonics. For more information about harmonic distortion, one more project has done to do it. This project is about to make assessment of harmonic distortion characteristics due to various type of electric utility equipment. All parameter have been measured are harmonic voltage, harmonic current, total harmonic distortion(THD),real power (P), reactive power (Q), apparent power (S), power factor (PF) and displacement power factor (DPF). The measurement will be done by using Fluke 43B Power Quality Analyzer. The harmonic spectrum, current waveform and voltage waveform from this equipment are observed. The data that obtained would be recorded by using fluke view. Electronic displays and lighting may flicker, circuit breakers can trip, computers may fail and metering can give false readings are the example of the effects. The harmonic measurement data that recorded by this project will be useful material as reference for harmonic improvements on various electrical equipment and power quality upgrading in the future
