Isyarat Elektrokardiogram (ECG) ialah suatu rakaman elektrikal berkenaan aktiviti “cardiac”, di mana ianya merupakan suatu indikasi mengenai status jantung seseorang pesakit. Secara amnya, isyarat ECG yang dirakam kebiasaanya akan dicemari dengan pelbagai jenis hingar dan artifak yang mempunyai julat frekuensi yang sama dengan ciri-ciri isyarat ECG tersebut. Untuk mengekstrak informasi yang berguna di dalam isyarat ECG yang dipenuhi dengan hingar, isyarat tersebut perlu menjalani beberapa proses agar hingar tersebut dapat dihilangkan atau dikurangkan. Terdapat empat punca hingar yang umum iaitu artifak gerakan, penyimpangan garis dasar, hingar disebabkan otot, dan interferens talian kuasa. Matlamat utama projek ini ialah untuk menghilangkan penyimpangan garis dasar daripada isyarat ECG yang telah tercemar dengan hingar. Di dalam projek ini, terdapat dua kaedah bagi menghilangkan masalah penyimpangan garis dasar iaitu dengan menggunakan penapis adaptif dan teknik penapis lulus tinggi. Bagi penapis adaptif, algoritma LMS telah digunakan sebagai algoritma penapisan adaptif kerana ianya mudah dan ringkas. Sebagai tambahan, penapis lulus rendah digunakan di dalam bahagian pra-proses di dalam kedua-dua kaedah bagi menghilangkan interferens frekuensi tinggi di dalam isyarat ECG yang tercemar. Projek ini dilaksanakan dengan mengunakan perisian Matlab dimana kod aturcara dan model-model untuk kaedah tersebut dilakukan. Keputusan daripada kedua-dua kaedah menunjukkan bahawa masalah penyimpangan garis dasar dan interferens frekuensi tinggi telah dibaiki. Selain itu, kaedah penapis adaptif menunjukkan prestasi lebih baik berbanding kaedah penapis lulus tinggi. _________________________________________________________________________________________ The electrocardiogram (ECG) signal is an electrical recording of the cardiac activity, which is an indication of the status of the heart. Generally, the recorded ECG signal is often contaminated by noise and artifacts that can be within the frequency band of interest and manifest with similar characteristics as the ECG signal itself. In order to extract useful information from the noisy ECG signals, we need to process the raw ECG signals. Four common noise sources in ECG signal are motion artifact, baseline wander, muscle noise and power line interference. The aim of this project is to eliminate the baseline wander from the ECG signal. In this project, there are two methods in eliminating the wander which are using the adaptive filter and high pass filter technique. For the adaptive filter, the LMS algorithm was used as adaptive filtering algorithm in the project because of its simplicity. In addition, the low pass filter was used as preprocessing part in both methods in order to remove high frequency interference in the raw ECG signal. This project is implemented using Matlab software where the coding and models for the two methods were done. The results from the two methods showing that the baseline wander from the ECG signal have been fixed and high frequency interference as well. Besides, adaptive filter method show a good performance in eliminating the baseline wander compared to high pass filter method.
