Heterogeneous photocatalyst is one of the leading methods in the field of wastewater
treatment. Based on the researcher‟s journal, this method has been investigated widely
to increase the removal efficiency of paracetamol from pharmaceutical wastewater. In
this experimental study, the compound parabolic collecting reactor (CPCR) is used for
the better wastewater treatment process. The synthetic pharmaceutical wastewater
solution is prepared with the volume of 15L and adding up certain amount of titanium
dioxide (TiO2) and paracetamol according to the experimental design. The treated
synthetic wastewater is channelled into the CPCR to carry out the heterogeneous
photocatalytic degradation treatment process for different duration of sunlight
exposure. The treated synthetic wastewater is then channelled into the sedimentation
tank. Lastly, the supernatant is collected for High Plasma Liquid Chromatography
(HPLC) test and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) test to identify the concentration of
paracetamol and TiO2 respectively. Based on batch experimental studies, the
paracetamol removal rate is 49%. In summary, the optimization process is carried out
to prove that the removal of paracetamol is due to heterogeneous photocatalyst process.
