LED mempunyai umur hidup sebanyak 10 tahun, tetapi umur hidup tradisional litar pemandu LED yang menggunakan kapasitor elektrolit sebagai elemen penyimpanan telah terhad kurang daripada 5 tahun. Hal ini telah jauh daripada jangkaan yang dibuat atas LED. Litar pemandu LED yang baru telah dibentangkan di dalam tesis ini. Litar ini terdiri daripada induktor, diod, suis dan kapasitor. Prinsip kendalian litar ini telah dianalisis. Keputusan eksperimen yang diperolehi telah dibandingkan dengan keputusan teori. Simulasi di atas litar pemandu LED telah dibuat untuk meningkatkan kefahaman kepada litar tersebut. Ujian-ujian kepada komponen dan bahagian dari litar telah dilakukan untuk menentukan fungsi. Selain itu, litar ini juga telah disimulasikan dengan mengguna Cadence Orcad untuk membantu dalam analisis, penyelesaian masalah dan mengesahkan keputusan. Prototaip litar ini akan dibuat di PCB untuk mengesahkan keputusan. Keputusan daripada eksperimen telah berjaya fungsi di bawah kekurangan kapasitor elektrolit dan mempuyai efisien yang tinggi. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ LEDs have a long life time up to 10 years, but the lifetime of a traditional LED driver with the use of an electrolytic capacitor as a storage element is limited to less than 5 years. This is far away from the expectation from LED. In this project, a pulse current driving approach for LED driver is presented. The LED driver is design to use a non-electrolytic capacitor instead of electrolyte capacitor to light up the LED load. The circuit comprised of two windings inductor, a diode, a switch and capacitors. The principle operation of this LED driver is analyzed and discussed. A simulation on the presented circuit is done to enhance the understanding. A testing on the component and section is carried out to determine their functionality. The circuit is simulated using Cadence OrCAD to help in analysis, troubleshooting and verify the results. The experiment results of this driver are compared with the theoretical results. Then, the circuit is implemented in the PCB to verify the results. The results from the experiment show that the proposed circuit is working well in the absence of the electrolyte capacitor and having an efficiency of 77%.
