WiMAX ditakrifkan sebagai “Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access” oleh WiMAX Forum. WiMAX adalah satu piawaian berpangkalan teknologi yang membolehkan akses kepada rangkaian penghantaran wayarles “last mile” sebagai satu alternatif untuk kabel dan DSL. WiMAX akan menyediakan rangkaian penghantaran wayerles tetap, nomad, mudah alih dan bergerak tanpa keperluan garis penglihatan langsung (LOS) dengan satu “base station”. Projek ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan dan menilai prestasi modulasi pembahagian frekuensi ortogon (OFDM) dengan berpandukan spesifikasi untuk sistem WiMAX dengan menggunakan Advanced Design System 2005A (ADS 2005A). Dalam projek ini, satu litar OFDM dibina mengikut standard IEEE 802.16. Litar tersebut kemudian diubah untuk melaksanakan beberapa keperluan dalam WiMAX Forum™ Mobile System Profile Release 1.0 Approved Specification (Revision 1.2.2: 2006-11-17). Hasil simulasi ADS 2005A memberikan maklumat tentang spektrum frekuensi radio (RF) dan “constellation diagram” seperti yang dicatatkan dalam profile sistem. Sebagai kesimpulan, sistem WiMAX boleh dilaksanakan dan dikaji dengan menggunakan ADS 2005A. _________________________________________________________________________________________ WiMAX is defined as the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access by the WiMAX Forum. WiMAX is a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL). WiMAX will provide fixed, nomadic, portable and mobile wireless broadband connectivity without the need for direct line-of-sight with a base station. This project aims to model and assess the performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation scheme with respect to the requirements for WiMAX system using Advanced Design System 2005A (ADS 2005A). In this project, an OFDM circuit is built according to IEEE 802.16 standard. This circuit is then modified to perform some requirements stated in WiMAX Forum™ Mobile System Profile Release 1.0 Approved Specification (Revision 1.2.2: 2006-11-17). The simulation result from ADS 2005A show the radio frequency (RF) spectrum and the constellation diagram of the targeted system profile. In conclusion, the WiMAX system can be implemented and analyze using ADS 2005A.
