Applicability: This method is suitable for liquid detergents that may become cloudy upon cooling and clear upon warming. However, it is not applicable to solutions that become cloudy when heated (e.g., solutions of ethylene oxide adducts) or to solutions that do not deposit solids other than ice when cooled to -15°C.
Procedure: The standard outlines the steps to cool the detergent sample under controlled conditions and subsequently warm it to observe the temperature at which it becomes clear. This temperature is recorded as the clear point.
Significance: Determining the clear point is essential for assessing the performance and stability of liquid detergents, especially in varying temperature conditions.
